Bowltiful was founded in Melbourne on 23 June 2019, born from founder Charlie’s search for the authentic Lanzhou Beef Noodles he grew up with. After arriving in Melbourne and finding no noodles that had the taste and craftsmanship of home, he set out to create his own. What began on Elizabeth Street quickly grew into a brand dedicated to sharing traditional Lanzhou flavours with the local community.
Bowltiful’s mission is to serve authentic, hearty Lanzhou Beef Noodles that connect people across cultures. Its vision is to share the rich culture of Lanzhou and become the first name that comes to mind when people think of noodles.
The brand has since expanded to four locations across Melbourne. The original Elizabeth Street store in the CBD opened in June 2019 and was newly renovated in 2024. The second location opened on Station Street in Box Hill in September 2021. This was followed by our Swanston Street CBD location in December 2022, situated on one of Melbourne’s busiest streets, and the most recent opening on Kingsway in Glen Waverley in October 2024.
Certified Halal by ANIC, Bowltiful is proudly pork-free and alcohol-free, making it accessible to a diverse customer base while staying true to culinary tradition and cultural inclusivity.
Bowltiful specialises in freshly made, hand-pulled noodles crafted into nine authentic Lanzhou styles. Founder Charlie, a trained noodle master, personally selected and trained every chef to ensure consistent quality and mastery across all locations. Each bowl follows the classic Lanzhou principle of “Yi Qing, Er Bai, San Hong, Si Lü, Wu Huang” which means “Clear Broth, White Radish, Red Chilli Oil, Green Garnish, and Golden Noodles”, coming together in a warm, comforting expression of heritage, balance, and craft.
Mindful of the environmental impact of the hospitality industry, Bowltiful has taken steps to reduce its footprint. The brand has introduced reusable takeaway bags to cut down on plastic usage and encourage sustainable practices among staff. Its city locations also participate in council food waste programs to divert waste from landfill, reflecting Bowltiful’s ongoing commitment to a more sustainable future.
