About the event
Educational Screening is a 2 day event designed to introduce students to the richness of Indonesian culture. Through captivating film screenings, traditional performances, and interactive workshops, the event offers a fun and educational experience. It provided a unique opportunity for 300+ students to explore Indonesia’s vibrant heritage in an engaging and immersive way.
This year, we are proud to present a special screening of Susi Susanti: Love All (2019) directed by Sim F. A movie that we carefully curated to showcase its inspiring story that bridges sports, culture, and national pride. Susi Susanti is a legendary Indonesian badminton player whose achievements not only brought international recognition to Indonesia but also united a diverse nation during a critical time of political and social change. The film offers students valuable insights into Indonesia’s history, identity, and values — all through a universally relatable story of perseverance, resilience, and hope. Thus making it a meaningful watch for young audiences in a multicultural country like Australia.
Alongside the film, Day 1 audiences enjoyed an angklung performance of “Ibu Kita Kartini” by the IFF Committee and an interactive angklung workshop facilitated by the Indonesian Consulate General. Side by side, audiences of day 2 experienced a traditional Indonesian dance performance of Tari Piring followed by a workshop facilitated by the IFF Committee to teach participants about the dance.
